Tamzin Outhwaite sports red carpet maternity wear

In the few weeks before the birth, many expectant mums content themselves with Saturday nights in with their feet up in front of a couple of DVDs.

But not Tamzin Outhwaite. The actress was spotted by the Daily Mail on the red carpet last night (May 27th) at the BAFTA Television awards, despite being heavily pregnant with her second child.

And the 41-year-old is clearly not letting her blossoming bump get in the way of her style. Adorned in a glamorous floor-length white and gold Temperley dress teamed with a gold clutch, the mum-to-be positively sparkled at the star-studded event.

Earlier in the evening, the actress had tweeted that she was struggling to find an appropriate gown for the occasion given her new figure, but following advice from fans she settled on the Grecian-style dress.

She tweeted: "Thanks for all your suggestions. You have been a great help. Think an event dress rental co would be good, especially for pregnant women!"

As Tamzin found this weekend, finding flattering evening wear when pregnant can be a bit of a challenge, especially when attending a formal or black tie event.

However, don't let this be reason to give these occasions a miss, as with a little time and effort, it's possible to find an affordable and attractive maternity outfit for any glamorous event.

The key to maternity evening wear is to keep it simple as too many frills and details can look fussy and will be unflattering to your figure. The wrap dress is a must for every maternity wardrobe and can be dressed up with pretty jewellery or a scarf to give you an extra touch of glamour.

Dresses that pull in under the bust-line and then flare out can also look very elegant, as they will drape softly over your bump without creating an unflattering tent-like appearance.

Finally, when it comes to footwear, stick to the flats. It may be tempting to go all-out and don some heels, but within a few hours you'll be regretting your choice and screaming out for a pair of comfy pumps or pretty sandals.
