HELP! How do I cope with two children under the age of 2?

baby2

First of all, well done you! Having two children under the age of 2 is certainly no mean feat, so we take our hats off to you.

We understand how hard it can be to have more than one small person to look after so we have some top tips to help you get through the day (and hopefully the night) in a stress-free way!

Prepare!

If you are pregnant and already have a small person in your life, it’s important to plan ahead as much as is possible. Invest in some toy baskets that can hold all your older baby / toddler toys, leaving you something quick and easy to pull out when you need to entertain child 1 whilst looking after child 2!

Time outs

Whenever possible, try and ensure that you can indulge in some quality one-to-one time with your children. Maybe read your eldest a story whilst dad bathes the baby or vice versa. It is quite common for the first born to feel a little left out when a new face comes along, so make sure that you still make time for them both – individually as well as a twosome.

Double up

It is probably a good idea to double up (sometimes triple up!) on ALL the essentials – nappies, creams, wipes, medicine etc. Supermarkets generally have great deals on baby items, and let’s face it, you can never have too many wipes! You’ll find use for them in the car, bathroom, kitchen, handbag, bedroom – the list goes on!
And let’s not forget the double pushchair! Although you will be able to reuse first stage car seats and cribs, there is no substitute for a double pushchair. No one wants to be carrying a wriggly child whilst trying to push a buggy, as well as all the paraphernalia that comes with children. Double pushchair, all the way!

House zones

Why not create some ‘house zones’, to help your eldest understand the different areas that he will be encountering at nursery. A soft, cushion filled area or bean bag for reading, a tent for quiet play and another area for toys and creative thinking. Not only will your children grow to understand these different zones and areas, you will be able to structure their day as they grow, preparing them for the steps in education ahead.

Double the love

But remember – when you’re having a bad day, you have double the hugs, kisses and love with two little ones in your life! Enjoy it!

We have now closed the site, but don’t worry, you can still get beautiful maternity & nursing lingerie at Cake Maternity. They make lovely products in a large range of sizes, which we’re sure you’ll also love. #lovethebodyyouarein
