Pregnant during the holidays – what should I wear?
Nobody panic! We’re here to help!
Christmas & New Year are a party minefield; if you’re still working, you will be the designated sober person at the office Christmas party. Let’s not forget the numerous aunties who will have one too many glasses of wine on Christmas day and regale you with their birth horror stories (hundreds of years ago, and things have moved on – so should they…) By the time New Year rolls around, you’re bored of drunk people and would rather just stay in & fall asleep on the sofa at 11!
This year, things will be different. There will be no wallflowers on our watch – do you know why? Because you’re going to be the best dressed women there, damn it, that’s why! We, your Amoralia lady-knights in shining armor, are here to dress you, your bump and your lady lumps in style.
So what do we think the season should entail (fashion wise, at least):
Let your new curves take centre stage in this gorgeous jumpsuit from our besties, HATCHcollection. It is a great investment piece that will look equally chic after your pregnancy. Our Luna padded flexi-wire nursing bra will give a beautiful smooth shape (no 90’s nips!) and the balconette style will enhance your cleavage. Why not give yourself a little Christmas treat and get the Luna set?
We found the Little Mistress dress on ASOS as a maternity dress but the brand are selling it as a non-maternity dress – another great option if you don’t want to buy something you’ll only wear once. We thought bra straps would ruin the effect of the sheer panel so why not invest in our Second Skin strapless maternity bra? You can wear this after you’ve had your baby too but you won’t be able to nurse with it. A silicone band along the top seam keeps the bra in place and the super soft microfibre won’t irritate your sensitive skin.
With both these outfits, you should keep your shoes, makeup and hair simple – this pair are from Office and won’t kill your feet! They don’t look super glamorous in the picture but a friend has them and they look beautiful in real life. Try to stay away from ankle straps, which will make your legs look shorter and your feet swell.
A lovely red liptint is a great alternative to lipstick (which can try out your lips) and it won’t need reapplying every 5 minutes! This one from Lush is very thematic and is safe to use during your pregnancy.
